POSITION SUMMARY:
The NC Chapter seeks a Field organizer to execute a multi-year grant awarded by the City of Durham to build the supply of the Child Care and Home Care workforce in Durham, and provide a comprehensive program of critical workforce development training, education, leadership building, and other workforce support. The Field organizer will ensure the chapter meets the deliverables of the grant, including recruiting and managing education cohorts, ensuring successful implementation of workforce development programs in the field, reporting, and tracking progress. This position is field-based and will be primarily responsible for ensuring we reach our goals around new contact engagement and retention, and that activities are happening on the ground and moving forward as planned.
PRIMARY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Implement work plan designed by grant program manager for project through Dec 2026 to incorporate key deliverables and ensure successful execution of grant
.Membership programs execution
Lead outreach to identify participants for the grant, including current members and new potential members.
Execute a pre-determined schedule of workforce development, personal skills, and/or continuing education trainings for chapter members and potential members
Identify and contract training partners to successfully deliver trainings to membership -Ongoing
Facilitate in-house trainings
Recruitment and management of home care and child care education cohorts and advanced home care and child care scholarship recipient programs
Act as lead staff to work with other NDWA department staff and partners to recruit 45 students per year to pursue their Early Childhood Education Associates Degree and/or Early Childhood Preschool or Infant/Toddler Certificate and recruit 48 students per year to pursue their Nursing Aide I or II, or Medical Technician credential
Identify four members to receive scholarship support for advanced degrees in early education and healthcare and conduct accountability and quality control over span of education assistance
Set up tables and represent the program at community events, identifying key outreach opportunities to recruit participants and educate the public about these opportunities.
Development and execution of Community Leadership Development Fellowship program
Support the execution of the Community Leadership Development Fellowship program.
Ensure on the ground implementation of established objectives, materials, and structure for the fellowship.
Recruit 36 home care and/or child care workers to participate across three 6-month cohorts.
Ensure consistent member participation
Evaluation and reporting
Meet with NC State Director to report on project deliverables, benchmarks, and progress
Produce weekly reports on project including major outreach and recruitment accomplishments, programmatic execution, and plans to reach grant goals,. Meet with NC State Director and development team to produce required reporting for the City of Durham
Attend supervision meetings with the NC State Director and complete work plans and reports in a timely manner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 4 years in labor organizing or with a worker center
Experience with membership outreach, recruitment, and retention
Alignment with NDWA’s vision and values, including a commitment to economic, race and gender justice.
Familiarity with the licensed child care and home care sectors and issues facing workers in these industries
Proven ability to learn quickly, work independently, meet multiple deadlines with a keen attention to detail.
Ability to work and collaborate with diverse staff in person and remotely and as part of a high-performing team, in a fast-paced, experimental organization.
Strong organizational skills, and creative problem solver
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite preferred (include other platforms or technical skills as applicable).
